Retaining wall cost calculator

Start with wall-face area, then make the costly variables visible. The result is a broad planning band, not a quote or engineering conclusion.

How it works

The method matters more than a precise-looking number.

The estimator calculates visible wall-face area, applies a system range, then adjusts for access and slope. It adds drainage by lineal metre, optional removal by wall-face area and an explicit professional and approval allowance. The upper band includes contingency.

What the range includes

  • base wall-system planning range;
  • access and working-slope adjustments;
  • back-of-wall drainage allowance;
  • optional existing-wall removal;
  • optional engineering, geotechnical, certification or approval allowance;
  • GST and upper-band contingency.

What still needs a quote

Actual excavation, spoil volume, temporary works, detailed drainage, loads above or near the wall, soil conditions, boundaries, service conflicts, finishes, warranties and local approval work all require property-specific confirmation.

No national approval shortcut

Do not use wall height alone to decide whether professional design or approval is required. Start with the relevant jurisdiction and property conditions.
